Our Pediatric Office

Our courteous office staff works hard to ensure patient comfort and convenience. To help you better understand our office operations, we have included the Information you need about our hours, location, appointment, Insurance acceptance, and other important details about our practice.

Our physician is always on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have an emergency after hours please call our answering service at (225) 379-8725. Please limit after hour calls to emergency situations only. Minor problems such as prescription refills, feeding and/or sleeping problems, etc., should be discussed with the phone nurse during regular office hours or an appointment can be made. If any instance of a life·threatenlng emergency, your first call should be to the paramedics at 911.

Our office will be closed on the following holidays:

• New Years Day
• Mardi Gras
• Good Friday
• Memorial Day
• Fourth of July
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

We will be available during these times by telephone for any emergencies.

Appointments

Our patients who become ill on any particular day, we intentionally do not pre-schedule all of our appointments for any day. We call the appointments that we hold until the beginning of each day "nurse holds." "Nurse hold" appointments, which are held unscheduled for Dr. Zganjar become available at 7:30am each morning. It Is Important to understand that these appointments are for the use of our children who become ill. "Nurse hold" appointments are designed to be problem focused and we ask that discussions regarding well child Issues and long-term management of complex or chronic problems be scheduled separately.

Should you have an appointment with one child and wish to have a sibling checked, we ask that you call and notify the office so that time will be made available to accomplish this. If you walk in with another child without notifying our staff, we will not be able to see this child. Our staff will give you the next available time slot which may be right away or later in the day depending on the schedule that day. These are the kinds of Issues that cause our doctor to fall behind schedule. (There is never just a quick peek in the ears). It is not fair to the patient who has an appointment and is in the office on time.

If you need to cancel an appointment, we request that you give at least 24 hours notice. This will help us to meet the needs of our other patients.

Payment Options

Payment of Co-payments and deductibles is due at the time services are rendered. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card. We can accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. We will apply a $40.00 NSF fee on any checks returned.

Hospital Affiliations

After the delivery of your baby, your newborn will be seen by the neonatologist on staff while the baby is in the hospital. Before your baby is discharged from the hospital, call the office to make arrangements for your Initial newborn visit at our office. Your baby needs to be seen by our pediatrician within 2 weeks of discharge unless otherwise instructed by the neonatologist. This is usually a good time to call your Insurance company and add your new baby to your policy and select Dr. Zganjar as the primary care physician if it is a requirement of your policy.

In the event your child has a sickness or Injury that requires hospitalization, our physician will admit you to Our Lady of the Lake and one of the pediatric hospitalists will manage your child's care.
